About the Department

The Department of political science came into existence in 1992 as undergraduate level and became a postgraduate Department in 2011 with the mission to inculcate among the youth of the area a desire for persuasion of excellence. In pursuit of the goals of empowering the young woman of the Kandi area as ensued by the worthy management of the college the department is striving hard to provide the best since its inception. The department is shaping the future of the students by inculcating in them the sense of social political and ethical responsibilities so that they may become able to hold future responsibilities as fully awakened citizens, nationally and internationally. ...

The department is known for its excellence in western and Indian political thoughts, Indian politics and Local self-Government, Key concepts in political analysis, International law & relations, Comparative studies, Foreign policy. The department is holding the tradition of excellence by securing merit positions, medals and top positions in university results year by year. The department is committed to keep its excellent tradition in the years to come.

Students who opt Political Science as an elective subject have a very bright future since they can go for higher studies e.g. M A. Political Science, M.A. Public Administration, M.A. International Relations, M.Phil., Ph.D and can become Professors/Lecturers in various colleges and universities. They can also pursue many courses in Human Rights studies. They can go for UGC-NET, JRF. After pursuing the Bachelor of Education they can enter the teaching line in government and private schools. They after pursuing LLB degree can become lawyers .They can go for PCS( Judiciary) and can become Judges. They can go for competitive examinations like UPSC(Union Public Service Commission), PPSC (Punjab Public Service Commission), PCS (Punjab Civil Service) and SSC (Staff Selection Commission). Many of the students of this Department had successfully pursued above mentioned carriers.
